The Pig and Pastry cafe prides itself in delicious food which includes breads and pastries. and also creative lunch combinations such as crispy duck and sweet corn pancakes. It’s breakfast menu is particularly appealing and the customers appear to be very satisfied. The coffee comes from local roaster Little Marionette and is top quality. Barista Isaac works his LaMazocco machine beautifully and is justifiably very happy with coffees he produces. The interior has been thoughtfully created and has a fresh and open feel. Lovely touches such as flowers on all tables and vintage china displays give the cafe a familiar and homely atmosphere. Heavy duty cast iron bases ground the cute wooden tables and the open windows with bench seats continue the light and airy theme. The service is attentive and friendly, as well as welcoming to the range of customers – elderly locals, young mothers with prams, dog-walkers and larger groups.
The cafe is also licenced and offers a small range of beer (delicious Vale Ale) and wines to accompany lunch. Special mention to the milkshakes, particularly the salted caramel flavour.
But I came for the coffee and walked away with a big smile on my face. I’ll be back.
